Synology DiskStation DS223j 2-Bay NAS (Diskless)

Synology DiskStation DS223j — Affordable 2-Bay NAS for Home and Small Office

The DS223j is Synology's entry-level 2-bay NAS: a quiet, low-power box that becomes your own private cloud. Back up every phone and computer in the house, keep a family photo library, and share files with a few colleagues — without a monthly cloud subscription. With two drives in RAID 1 or SHR, your data survives a single drive failure.

Diskless enclosure: hard drives are sold separately. See our Home backup bundle pairing the DS223j with two Synology 4TB drives, or ask us for a quote.

Frequently asked questions

DS223j or a Plus-series NAS?
The DS223j is ideal for backup and light file sharing. If you need faster networking, more users, SSD cache or Active Backup for Business, look at the DS725+ or DS425+.

Which drives are compatible?
Synology lists its Plus series (HAT3300) drives as recommended for the DS223j. Check the model compatibility list before using other drives.

Is RAID a backup?
No. RAID 1 protects against one drive failing, not against deletion or ransomware. Keep a separate copy of important files — our sizing guide explains how.

Can I get a GST invoice?
Yes, GST invoicing is available.
