The DS1825+ packs eight drive bays, ECC memory and a PCIe slot into a desktop chassis, so a growing team can centralise large volumes of data without moving to a rack. Dual 2.5GbE ports come built in, and the PCIe slot accepts a Synology 10GbE or 25GbE card when your network is ready for it. When eight bays fill up, add up to two DX525 expansion units for 18 drives in total.

Frequently asked questions

Which hard drives should I use?
Synology guarantees full functionality only with drives on the DS1825+ compatibility list. The Synology Plus (HAT3300) and Enterprise (HAT5300) series we stock are listed as compatible.

RAID 5 or RAID 6?
With eight large drives, RAID 6 or SHR-2 is safer because it survives two drive failures. Our NAS sizing and RAID guide shows the usable capacity for each option.
